This is a sweet short which again is simple and relies on a great well developed story line

September 14th, 2010

The synopsis is “Love isn’t always what it seems. At nine years of age, Lucy is just about ready to fall in love for the first time. James is the perfect candidate. He’s got everything she could want in a boy. Unfortunately for Lucy, James has other things on his mind. ”

Great short film-because of a great storyline :)

September 14th, 2010

This short film is incredibly simple but effective because it has a well thought out and developed storyline. Once the storyline and script had been developed in pre production then actual shooting and post production would have been very straight forward.

Buyers Agent Queensland

August 15th, 2010

If I was in a position to purchase a piece of real estate property I would use a Queensland Buyers Agent such as MyBuyersAgent. It makes sense to use  an expert to work on your behalf when purchasing property. The agents you usually deal with in real estate transactions are working for the seller not the buyer so using a buyers agent seems way to obvious.

MyBuyersAgent has a great explanation of what a buyers agent is and I reckon they are the expert Buyers Agent in Queensland.

Five things that you should know about Google and Search Engine Optimisation

August 14th, 2010

Everyone wants to be listed on Google’s first result page so they will get a high number of targeted visitors and the success that this brings.

Unfortunately, many people have not got a clear understanding of how search engine optimization works and what they can expect. So below are 5 key points about google and SEO that should help everyone J

1. Patience – “SEO takes time”

You cannot optimise your website today and expect results tomorrow or next week. Search engine optimization takes time. Search engines have to find your new optimized pages, they have to find the new links to your website, they have to update the index, etc.

2. Maintianance- You must change your web pages

Google loves fresh new content so update your site regular. This can done via a blog or just simple updates like specials or promotional updates.

3. Friends- You need links and you need the right links

Google thinks that if other sites are linking to you then these backlinks are treated as almost recommendations by google. How highly they regard these links depends on the number and quality of the links. The links should be from sites with similar content or on similar topics as you would expect if a link is to be considered as a recommendation then you would expect them to be within the same field. Automatically created backlinks usually won’t help your rankings and they even might get you banned from Google’s index.

Back links should also have your keywords in the link text.

The more attractive your website is, the easier it will be to get good links.

4. Research Research Research-It’s vital you choose the right keywords

Research before your website is created so that the site can be built with the target keywords in mind right from the beginning. You can change and tweak them later on but it is putting the cart before the horse if you have a website created and then begin to think about what keywords your targeting.

5. Be realistic

Getting on the first result page for a highly competitive keyword is possible but your competitors will be old and established websites with a lot of backlinks who will be difficult to outrank because of these factors.

A better option would be to target less competitive keywords and work your way up to the highly competitive ones. Search engines must trust your website before they give you high rankings for very competitive keywords.

Coffs harbour Web Design site update

August 5th, 2010

After my less than flattering remarks about the Coffs Harbour Web Design site they have actually updated it. Coffs harbour web design has also added some tutorials on Web Design.

Specifically Slicing in Fireworks V3 and Dreamweaver templates.

I think the inspiration for change came from speaking to someone who pointed out no matter how good something is technically (which in web design these you really need to be)- if your web design doesn’t look good then no one is going to take you seriously- not even in Coffs Harbour :)

Coffs Harbour Web Design Gold Coast

July 30th, 2010

I’ve been looking at different web design sites and there is a real variety. The Web site of Gold Coast Graphic Design is a good example of a website that is a good example of a graphic designers website. The Coffs harbour web design site doesn’t appear to be by a graphic designer but is more of technical person moving into web design.

While to is important to the technical skills in web design, and more important than it is in graphic design -design skills are also required in Web Design which I’m not that the Coffs Harbour site has imho :)

Surfing South Sumatra

South Sumatra  is an awesome spot for a surf trip. There are waves at North and South Sumatra for everyone.  One of the best spots at South Sumatra is Krui where the break goes for around 200 metres with many sections.

Travelling to South Sumatra involves a 6 hour overland drive but places to stay like Family Losmen can organise a comfortable air conditioned car to pick you up from Sumatra’s main airport.

Family Losmen is the perfect place to stay at South Sumatra for your surf trip with it being located at Krui and including 3 meals a day in the accommodation costs.
